The overproduction and overconsumption of clothing is a global environmental problem. According to statistics, the amount of clothing produced has risen to 100 billion new garments per year, while the average lifespan has been reduced by 36%. 87% of textiles are thrown into landfill and just 1% are recycled.
Countries in Africa and South America are full of clothing waste coming from developed countries while Asian countries are suffering from manufacturing pressure.
But there are designers who are looking to change the way things are done and upcycle old fashion stuff. They consider Earth to be their home where is no place for excess garbage and low quality things.
Environmental and climate change issues have been on my mind for a long time, I'm doing my best not to make things worse and truly admire people who go against the system.
